Julie's Just a Step Away

Situated in Clarendon Cross opposite the renowned Julie’s restaurant and occupying a prominent corner position this former eatery was transformed into a triplex penthouse apartment with sky garden. Originally 1,800 feet square planning was sort and gained to reinstate a previously damaged parapet and add an additional floor taking the apartment up to a respectable 2,700 feet square. Boasting sixteen large sash windows over the original two floors and exterior period mouldings the imposing building had fallen into disrepair with all of the internal period features being removed over the passage of time.

Completely stripped out when first acquired a complete and total refurbishment was instigated. At the heart of the renovation was a first floor 50-foot long open plan kitchen, dining, living room. The bespoke Bulthaup kitchen with Gaggenau appliances looked out over wide oak floorboards and Miles and Wilde cornices with a 2m ribbon fireplace.

The apartment was linked via a new bespoke staircase that rose from ground floor level up to new third floor and sky garden. The second floor includes the 600 feet square master suite with sumptuous en-suite and Poliform walk-in wardrobes. There is also a second bedroom with a family bathroom at this level also.

The new third floor houses a multi-purpose room with kitchenette and en-suite that leads onto the roof terrace with panoramic views over London. The whole apartment used Crestron home automation with both in-wall units and mobile/tablet functionality. This system controlled all of the: audiovisual aspect of the property as well as the: comfort heating and cooling, lighting, security and door entry.

The Italian bathrooms with Vola sanitary ware were offset with Tadelakt polished plaster, hand made tiles from Fired Earth and bespoke joinery. As well as this Miles and Wilde period features were reinstated that were offset with modern and contemporary detailing transforming this once forgotten property into a wonderful penthouse apartment.
