Clapham Chic & Glamour

Amari was commissioned by a leading Central London developer to design an amazing apartment block of four apartments that included a series of bathrooms, kitchen and joinery units within a refurbishment overlooking Clapham Common. Set back from the road on the North side of Clapham Common the refurbishment of an existing period property required the careful design of its: kitchens, bathrooms and joinery. With both style and a strict budget in mind, Amari set about creating a series of designs that would both be breathtaking and cost effective.

The resultant designs combine select components and finishes which set this development apart from the rest in the area and breathed new life into a forgotten gem. As well as the refurbishing of the whole property an additional lower ground floor addition was created which added space and a discrete rooftop level was constructed to increase the size of the new penthouse.

The original late Victorian property had seen better days and with a fantastic location overlooking the common, the developers saw the potential to create new and exciting units that reflected the building heritage and its local surroundings. The style eventually chosen was an eclectic one, where the period detailing of the property would be mixed with a more contemporary feel to suit modern living. The sense of the grandeur of the building also was kept and accentuated.

Views Over the Common

The property benefited from front and rears gardens, as well as off street parking to the front. The large ground and lower ground apartment having the private use of the rear garden as well as a lower ground floor courtyard area that linked the two levels. The duplex penthouse included front and rear terraces which took full advantage of the spectacular views over the rooftops of London and the common.

The project used engineered oak floors with underfloor heating as standard throughout, with the kitchens having modern lacquered front, high-end appliances and stone resin worktops.  The bespoke joinery to all apartments also added both style and quality to the development. New high-performance windows were installed throughout as well as floor to ceiling windows in the lower ground floor and penthouse.

The bathroom was not forgotten either: mat stone resin basins and shower trays offset with Italian brassware and sanitaryware were brought together with high-quality tiles and finishes. All in all the development was a great success, with all of the units selling off plan before it was completed.
